Downhill 24 Event Info
What is the Downhill 24?
The Downhill 24 is a ski challenge & fundraiser to benefit WinterKids! Teams of skiers and riders of all ages and abilities clock laps over a 24 hour period while raising funds for WinterKids programs. Skiers can ski as much or as little as they want! The day is filled with entertainment and food around the clock; live bands, a DJ, coffee & snacks, a beer garden, and awesome prizes! Last March, we lit up Sugarloaf offering night skiing for the first time in history while raising an extraordinary $222,000 for WinterKids!
This support will allow WinterKids to help more children develop healthy, lifelong habits through education and fun, outdoor winter activity. We reached more than 20,000 children this winter and would not be able to achieve that level of success without the help of supporters like you. Thank you! What does this success mean to WinterKids? A lot.
How the Race Works
Night skiing at Sugarloaf? Yes, WinterKids is bringing back portable lights to place along the event trail! How cool is that? We are lighting up one trail starting at dusk! Each team shares one timing chip and while trying to ski or ride as many runs as possible in 24 hours. Teams can be as small as 1 person or as large as 12. Some teams are really competitive, and they keep at least one person on the mountain at all times. Other teams are there for the fun, and skip racing in the middle of the night in favor of the entertainment (or sleeping). In the end, it’s all about having fun and raising awareness and funds for WinterKids programs!
TEAM REGISTRATION: A great option for families and friends*
COST: Would you believe it could be as low as $50? Each skier or rider pays only $50 when registering, and then has until 5:00 pm on Friday, March 3 to raise $200 from family, friends, or colleagues using our user-friendly fundraising pages. If you raise at least $200, you get 24 hours of skiing, food, and fun entertainment for only $50! If you fall short of $200, we will charge the difference to your credit card on the deadline.
You don't need to wait for your teammates to sign up! Choose "Create a Team" and your teammates can select "Join a Team" later!
CORPORATE SPONSORED TEAM: A great option for businesses that want to support WinterKids*
