WinterKids Winter Games

Going for the Gold

This year, we launched a new elementary school challenge-The WinterKids Winter Games 2018! Ahead of the 2018 winter Olympics, one elementary school in each of Maine’s 16 counties competed in a four-week outdoor physical activity and nutrition challenge during the month of January.  Schools competed for cash prizes, equipment, and more!

The WinterKids Winter Games inspired 16 elementary schools, 229 teachers, and 4200 students to go for the gold!

I am SO thankful for the impact the WinterKids competition has had on our kids.  In this short time, the changes in attitudes, physical activity, even the helpfulness of students was very heart-warming. Though we didn’t take the gold in Piscataquis, the positive results are undeniable! Thank you for this opportunity to encourage, engage, and challenge our kids (and ourselves)!" Wendy L., PCES

We have had many students, families, and staff members tell us that they not only enjoyed the challenges, but that they now look at making healthy choice as something they can easily do more often. In our minds, that is winning!
